FAQ'S
What does centrifuged mean?
The virgin coconut oil is extracted from fresh coconuts mechanically separated using a centrifugal force.
Why Does Nutri Coco use centrifuge process for extracting oil?
Centrifuge extraction allows for less sediment, impurities and debris to become mixed in the oil.
What makes Nutri Coco a premium oil?
A few reasons why. Primarily because we have a Special Centrifuge Process that we use to extract oil.
This Special Centrifuge Process allows for the purest VCO.
Are VCO's naturally cholesterol free?
Yes, VCO’s are cholesterol free. VCO’s do however help to increase levels of good cholesterol (HDL) and decrease levels of bad cholesterol (LDL).
How is VCO naturally cholesterol free?
Our VCO has the good fats. The lauric acid in coconut oil has shown it increases levels of good HDL, or high-density lipoprotein, and bad LDL, or low-density lipoprotein, in the blood.
Why do some jars of VCO look brownish or yellowish when you turn it over?
The brownish or yellowish color may result to sediment, impurities, or debris becoming mixed in the oil during extraction process. Rule of Thumb: The whiter the oil, the purer it is.
Expeller Pressed vs. Cold Pressed
Expeller Pressed uses heat in the extraction process and loses nutrient content.
Cold Pressed does not use heat, thus, maintains much better nutrient content.
Refined vs. Unrefined: It can be a little confusing. When you think of anything refined you would think it would be better. Not necessarily the case when classifying coconut oil. Here are easy ways to remember differences between Refined and Unrefined coconut oil.
Refined: The most processed. Bleached and deodorized. Nutrients lost.
Unrefined: Minimally processed. Higher content of nutrients. Purest form. Raw.
What is the shelf life of VCO?
Our Premium VCO shows no evidence of rancidity after two years at room temperature. The reason why is because of our ability to eliminate water content through our Special Centrifuge Process. Most coconut oils have a higher moisture rate and can become rancid within a year. Again, through our Special Centrifuge Process our coconut oils are at it’s purest.
How to liquefy VCO if in solid form?
Place jar under warm water.
When the VCO is in liquid form, does that mean it has lost its quality?
No. VCO is naturally white when in solid form and will liquify at 76º degrees.
Coconut oil is a saturated fat. Aren’t saturated fats bad for you?
No, not all saturated fats are bad for you. Coconut oil is a medium chain fatty acid that your body uses to create energy. Long chain fatty acid from other oils are stored in your body as fat.
How to heat coconut oil?
Stir the coconut oil until the liquid starts to simmer. Do not allow your coconut oil to become too hot. Unrefined coconut oil has a smoke point of 350 degrees Fahrenheit; refined coconut oil has a smoke point of 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Your oil will emit unpleasant odors and negatively affect any food it is used with if it surpasses its smoke point.
